Fire dartfish (Nemateleotris magnifica) are a common sight on the exposed hard bottom of the outer reef zone in the South Pacific, but in Hawaii they are very rare. They appear as juveniles, as pictured here, but they do not seem to make it to adulthood. This one is seen at Molokini Island, off Maui, Hawaii, USA; Hawaii, United States of America
