James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) image of spiral galaxy NGC 1512. This galaxy is around 30 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Horologium. Dust absorbs light in the visible and ultraviolet spectrums before re-emitting it as infrared, which the JWST can detect. As such, dust appears red/orange, as do newly forming stars as these are surrounded by dust. Older stars are visible toward the centre of NGC 1512 and appear blue in colour. Image captured by the JWST's Near Infrared Camera (NIRCam).
