Prehistoric perissodactyl (Propalaeotherium sp.) fossil. Perissodactyls include tapirs, rhinos, horses, and their extinct relatives. Perissodactyls was a small mammal, around 30-60 centimetres in length and weighed around 10 kilograms. They looked similar to small tapirs but had no hooves. This fossil dates back to the Eocene period, 47 million years ago. Found in Messel, Germany.
