Ring-necked parakeet (Psittacula krameri) in a tree. Also known as the rose-ringed parakeet, this tropical Afro-Asian parakeet is popular as a pet and has successfully adapted to urban habitats in the UK following escapes from captivity. It feeds on buds, fruits, vegetables, nut, berries and seeds. The male has a black ring around his neck, whereas the female has no neck markings. Photographed in the UK in June.
