The illuminations in Sackville Street, Dublin with an electric light shining on the Nelson Column during the visit of Queen Victoria to Ireland in 1849. The lit up letters of Victoria and Albert can be seen decorating the magnificent frontage of the General Post Office in what is now O'Connell Street (renamed in 1924 after the Irish nationalist, Daniel O'Connell).
