Blue-banded kingfisher (Alcedo euryzona) perched on a branch. This rare, small kingfisher frequents tropical forests and rivers. Males are highly distinctive, with a broad blue-green band across a white chest. Females have an all-orange belly with a red base on the lower bill. Blue-banded kingfishers are critically endangered according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
