Common flameback (Dinopium javanense) perching on a tree. This is a medium-sized woodpecker characterised by its bright golden back. It features long, irregular black lines on its head and neck. Both male and female birds have black eye stripes that connect to a black stripe at the back of the neck. The male displays a red crown, while the female has a black crown. They possess a relatively small bill and have only three toes.
