Adult caddisfly (Trichoptera) resting on the underside of a leaf. Adult caddisflies live for only a few days, as they cannot feed and exist only to mate. The caddisfly larva lives in fresh water, feeding over winter and spring, before pupating and metamorphosising into the adult form in summer.
