Serpentine. Serpentine is a group of common rock-forming hydrous magnesium iron phyllosilicate minerals. Serpentine is associated with deposits of copper, iron, nickel and asbestos. It is used in the building trade, and many types of this mineral have been used in jewellery and decorative carving.
